Salary: Circa £23,000 - £25,000

About Us:

Charlton Athletic Football Club is an English professional association football club based in Charlton, south-east London. The club was founded on June 9th, 1905 and has a very storied history from rising to the top-flight of English Football in the 1930s (First Division) and again in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, to winning the FA Cup in 1947 and to leaving their Valley home in the mid-1980s only to make an impassioned return in 1992. Historically, the women's team played under Charlton Athletic from 2000 to 2007 but were released to become an independently run team in 2007 following the men's team's relegation from the Premier League.

The women's team were originally formed as a non-professional team in​ 1991 and were highly successful in the early 2000s winning The FA Cup, the League Cup, and the Charity Shield, as well as coming runners-up in the top division in multiple seasons. In February 2021, the club acquired the Charlton Athletic Women's team, turning the team full-time professional, and integrating them to become one club again.

Currently, our men's first team competes in League One, the third tier of English football, and our women's team competes in the Women’s Championship, the second highest division of women's football in England. At Charlton, we are ‘one club’ and can be truly described as a ‘family club’.

Key Responsibilties:

  • Responsible for delivering a new business sales strategy that addresses different geographical sales coverage, implementing tactics, plans and profit targets for new business and rolling that out
  • Identify and propose with the Commercial Manager the development of products, pricing and promotional plans for the club’s assets, devising our “go-to-market” plan for our products, driving and coordinating the pace of execution
  • Liaising with new and existing clients over the phone and email and meeting them face to face as part of the commercial sales strategy
  • Produce sales lead, sheets with day to day objectives and targets for new business
  • Work with the Club’s integrated platform in identifying new business to business opportunities for the Club
  • Assist in the overall business and account management for all commercial club sponsors, ensuring that the best standards of customer service and client satisfaction are upheld
  • Explore and actively pursue any opportunities for additional sponsorship/revenue streams through benchmarking the operation against competitors
  • Assist in the design and management of all marketing collateral required to assist in growing the commercial revenues and specific projects
  • Liaise with the communications department in managing the content of commercial pages in matchday programme throughout the season
  • Daily cold calling responsibilities to fulfil weekly commercial sales targets and objectives
  • Ensure all weekly/daily/matchday reports are administered accurately and to agreed timelines
  • Represent the club where and when necessary in a sales capacity at conferences, networking events, league meetings and away matches
  • Any other duties appropriate to the skills and experience of the position holder
  • Actively monitor personal performance at work, looking to consistently contribute to personal objectives and team goals, and focus own activities accordingly

Education/Qualifications/Training:

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent (E)
  • Educated to A-Level or equivalent (E)
  • Results driven sales experience, delivering strong tangible financials in a customer focused organisation (E)
  • Proficient in managing budgets (E)
  • Experience of developing assets and taking them to market (D)
  • Credible experience working within sports stadia in a similar role (D)
  • Business development or sales qualification (D)

Additional Information:


  • This a full time role that include work on weekends and evenings (negotiable)
